Security Practices

At Macquarie Credit Union, we take the protection and security of your information, transaction data and privacy seriously.

Accordingly, we have employed a wide range of security measures to help protect your personal information and transactions. These measures extend from data encryption to firewalls to automatic timeouts. Therefore, when you do your banking online with us, you can be assured that your banking is safeguarded and protected.

Enhanced security measures for Internet Banking introduced in October 2008.

Logging in

When you go to our log in screen, you type in your member number and access code (password) as usual, you will then be prompted to enter a computer generated secondary password. This password will be in the form of a scrambled alphanumeric image which will appear on your screen and will change each time you log on to Internet Banking.

External transfers

When transferring funds from your account, you still need to enter your access code (password), but in addition, you will also be asked to enter your date of birth on a pin pad.

Please note that the date of birth relates to the Member logging in, for example John and Lisa Citizen have a joint account number 2222. John’s member number would be 2222 as the Primary Member, however Lisa’s member number will be different. Therefore if Lisa is logging in, her date of birth would be needed to send a transfer or BPAY®.

Learn more about our Online Security Practices and our Online Communication Practices plus other important information that will keep you informed of the potential risks and what you can do to improve your own online security in the security section of our website.

Furthermore, in the unlikely event that an unauthorised transaction does occur on your account, we guarantee that you will not be liable for any unauthorised transaction carried out (provided you meet your obligations under our Conditions of Use, the ASIC Electronic Funds Transfer Code of Conduct and you haven't contributed to the loss).
